Northwood campus in Halifax reports presumptive case of COVID-19

Northwood says they have received confirmation of a presumptive case of COVID-19 in a staff member who works at the company s Halifax campus.
A news release sent Tuesday afternoon says the staff member contracted the virus in the community and they are now self-isolating.
Northwood says they have notified public health and are following their directives and moving forward with contact tracing and increased swabbing and testing of residents and staff.
We are taking full precautionary measures as directed by public health, and will continue all of our robust infection prevention and control practices at this time, the company wrote in a release. ....

Seventy-five New Cases of COVID-19
Seventy-five new cases of COVID-19 are being reported in Nova Scotia today, April 28.
Sixty-seven cases are in Central Zone, one case is in Western Zone, and one case is in Northern Zone.
Six cases are in Eastern Zone, one of which was identified Tuesday, April 27, at Strait Area Education Recreation Centre in Port Hawkesbury.
One of the cases in Central Zone is a staff member at Northwood’s Halifax Campus, a nursing home in Halifax. As a precaution, residents are being isolated and cared for in their rooms. All residents, staff and designated care providers are being tested. Most residents have been fully vaccinated with two doses of COVID-19 vaccine. ....

Nova Scotia is reporting 75 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, as the active number of cases in the province increases to 489.
I am pleased to see our case numbers have gone down, said Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia s chief medical officer of health.
He added a word of caution, however.
They might go up tomorrow, though, so what we are looking for is a sustained downward trend, Strang said. The variants are quick and strong. We cannot see our numbers increase.
