Cherry Block Craft Butcher and Kitchen, 409 Travis, will depart Bravery Chef Hall January 31 in order to open two new locations in Katy and Garden Oaks. The first, Cherry Block Craft Butcher and Market, 5305 Highway Boulevard, will open in early February. Cherry Block is a partnership between Felix Flores, owner of Falcon Lakes Farms, and chef Jess DeSham Timmons. The new shop will offer locally sourced heritage meats through Flores wholesale distribution company. The butcher shop and market will be both wholesale and retail with a dry aging room, custom bacon and seasonings and chef-prepared meals. The staff at the current Bravery Chef Hall spot have been offered positions at the Katy market until the second location opens later this summer.
Flappy Wings and Burgers, 1315 W. Grand Parkway, began its soft opening December 29. A grand opening is planned within the next couple of weeks. The business began originally in Katy Mills Mall by Huma and Riaz Ahmad who were school clothes shopping when they came across a kiosk for lease. Riaz had dreamed of opening a restaurant so the couple decided to purchase the former deli space and begin their own venture. After two years, they decided they needed a proper kitchen and closed up shop at Katy Mills in late November 2020 in order to relocate to the new space.
The menu is extensive and eclectic at Flappy with a mix of Pakistani, Mediterranean, Greek, Mexican and Italian food along with some great burgers. The Turbo Burger is one of its best sellers and offers a beef patty topped with Philly cheesesteak meat, provolone and American cheese. Berg Hospitality is getting into the ghost kitchen game, offering food from a trio of its concepts for delivery beginning on Monday.
The Houston-based restaurant group on Thursday announced the launch of a new delivery-only kitchen, located at 5832 Fairdale Ln. The concept will offer dishes from B.B. Italia Kitchen & Bar/B.B. Pizza and B.B. Lemon, as well as select cuts from B&B Butcher Shop.
Menu items from B.B. Italia Kitchen & Bar/B.B. Pizza include 20-layer lasagna, three cheese ravioli, and grilled salmon with piccata sauce, along with specialty pies.
