COVID-19: Nigeria records 464 fresh cases, 16 fatalities Published The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has announced 464 fresh cases of COVID-19 in 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The new figure brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country so far to 156,963. The health agency made the announcement yesterday night via a tweet on its verified Twitter handle. The centre also confirmed the death of 16 persons due to complications from the virus. The total number of fatalities has jumped to 1,939. NCDC also indicated the recovery and discharge of 418 patients from Lagos, Imo and Akwa Ibom States as total recoveries so far stands at 135,831. ....
Daily Post Nigeria Published The Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), has called on the Niger State Government to place a priority on nutrition interventions to reduce the rising tide of stunting and wasting among children in the state. The group made the call during advocacy visits to some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Wednesday in Minna. It said the rate of stunting in Niger is 37percent and very alarming, hence, measures should be taken by the State to stop the trend in the next three years. In her address, the State Chairman, Committee on Food and Nutrition, Hajia Ramaru Umar said that presently, there were over 21,000 cases of children below 2 years in Mashegu and Mariga local government areas with stunting and wasting as a result of malnutrition. ....
