Flash floods hit Kupwara; farmlands inundated, vehicles swept away

DC Visits Affected Areas, Urges People To Take Precautions

Kupwara: Rains caused flash flooding in Kupwara, causing disruption to normal life. Some roads were damaged while orchards and farmlands were inundated and some vehicles swept away.
Reports said that flash floods were witnessed in areas including Zirhama, Lolab and other adjacent areas damaging standing crops, orchards and road stretches.

The exit of the People’s Conference has seemingly left the PAGD adrift. The five-party alliance including big players like National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have not met for nearly two months now.
Seemingly, the PAGD is disinterested in the elections to the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons which they have lost in six out of 13 where they had the mandate when results were declared on December 22 last year. The alliance also hasn’t appointed a new official spokesperson since Sajad Gani Lone left. ....

Aspersions have been raised on the sincerity of the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) by its own leaders. What are your views on it?
MIR MOHAMMAD FAYAZ (FM): PAGD is a failure till it doesn’t come up with a roadmap. They should clear as to what they want to do in the coming future. In the Kupwara district, there was a lack of unity during recent District Development Council (DDC) polls. If the present state of affairs continues, the PGAD would not be taken positively by people. In absence of a roadmap, the future would not be good. The PAGD needs to be truthful. ....
