Chaitar and his wife Shakuntala Vasava have been lodged at the Rajpipla sub-jail since their arrest in an alleged case of extortion and assault on forest officers on October 30, 2023.
The court granted the permission based on a revision petition filed by the district police in the sessions court after its plea to extend police custody of the leader was rejected on December 18.
The court remanded Chaitar and four others arrested along with him on December 14 to judicial custody at the sub-jail in Rajpipla where Chaitar's wife Shakuntala, personal assistant Jitendra and a farmer Ramesh Vasava have been lodged since their arrest on November 3.
