TCCOR All Clear issued Jan. 1 for Okinawa

4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, Japan time: Per Kadena Air Base s 18th Wing Weather Flight, U.S. bases on Okinawa transitioned to Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness All Clear on Jan. 1 - a month later than usual.
Typically, the northwest Pacific s typhoon season runs from June 1 to November 30. But whether we remain in seasonal TCCOR 4 or TCCOR All Clear posture is at the discretion of the 18th Wing commanding officer, Brig. Gen. Joel Carey.
TCCOR All Clear (or seasonal TCCOR 5 in some locales) should remain in effect until May 31 in Japan, Korea and Okinawa. This is the time of year when tropical cyclones are least likely to occur at locales north of the Tropic of Cancer. ....

The year 2020 is virtually certain to rank among the five-warmest years on record.

November 2020 was the second warmest November since global record keeping began in 1880, behind the record set in 2015, NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, NCEI, reported December 14.
NASA rated the month as the warmest November on record, as did the European Copernicus Climate Change Service. The Japan Meteorological Agency rated it as the second-warmest. Minor differences in rankings often occur among various research groups, the result of different ways they handle data-sparse regions such as the Arctic. ....

Powerful storms that frequently hit the philippines. for most, the best hope of survival is simply evacuating, getting out of harm s way. the lesson at least for now appears to have been learned. andrew stevens, cnn, dolores, the philippines. now, it is afternoon time in the philippines. hagupit has a tropical storm still impacting the region. pedram javaheri joins us to tell us if the storm is at least on its way out. it is now, what is left of it on the fringe of the philippines. trying to reblossom here as it moves back over the open waters. we do still have leftover showers here, showing you to the north, manila. and the rains moving offshore. i would suspect in the next hour or two and a half hours dry conditions for almost the entire philippines, of course initially before the storm arrived we had ....

There, but we haven t heard anything from that town. this island was hagupit s first island landfall where it hit with the highest intensity. we reached deloris 40 minutes later, from the air it looks battered but not devastated. trees down, houses unroofed. and north of the town, this resort clearly showing the scars of nature s fury. we were the first international journalists, locals tell us, to reach this town. we ve arrived here, and this is the grounds of the school here which is now the main evacuation center of the town. you can see there are literally hundreds of children who sought shelter from the storm. you can see the downed trees as testaments of the sheer power of hagupit. all around this area, big trees, all of which have been uprooted. deloris took a direct hit from ....
