12 ASG members surrender in Basilan - Twelve Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members surrendered to authorities in Basilan province, attributed to the continuous campaign of the provincial government and military operations. The surrender follows the death of ASG bomb maker Mundi Sawadjaan in an encounter with government troops. With the ASG's strength waning, authorities are hopeful that Basilan will soon be declared ASG-free.
