Aggrieved families of the victims of extrajudicial killings and abduction in Kogi State have petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman over the alleged disappearance and killing of over 150 indigenes of the state since 2019 believed to be political opponents of Governor Yahaya Bello. Some lawyers from Demaki & Demaki have called for the immediate disbandment of the Navy special task force headed by one Charles Akalieze in Kogi State. In a petition sent to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, the President was asked to sack the Chief of Naval Staff and also asked to arrest Commander Akalieze of NNS Lugard for his alleged dastardly acts.
A group, Advocate For Peoples’ Rights and Justices has called for the immediate disbandment of the Navy special task force headed by one Charles Akalieze in Kogi State. The group also called for the removal of one CSP Femi Ojo as Commander of the IGP Quick Response Unit in the state. In a petition sent to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, it accused Charles and Ojo of being responsible for the abduction and killing of innocent indigenes of Kogi State for political reasons.
