PFAS firefighting foam has been banned for use in New South Wales except in catastrophic circumstances or where there are special circumstances. 
Firefighting foam containing per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (P-FAS) will be banned for all training and demonstration purposes in our state 
The chemicals don t break down in the environment and have been linked to several health problems.
P-FAS has been found in 6 Illawarra and South Coast locations including the Albion Park Fire and Rescue, H-M-A-S Albatros and the South Nowra Rural Fire Service site.
Environment Minister Matt Kean says firefighting foam is the key cause of PFAS contamination in the NSW environment. ....
