KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Purushottam Khanal, the chairman of Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), who has been facing allegations of irregularities in the purchase of Telecommunication Traffic Monitoring and Fraud Control System (TERAMOCS) and purchase of Mobile Device Management System (MDMS), has officially resigned. He also resigned due to disagreements with the government on some policy issues. Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said that the cabinet meeting accepted Khanal's resignation on Tuesday.
"If the Congress is adamant on their demand of holding the position of President and PM then there's no need for a coalition. We would simply walk out from it. This same statement was made in Saturday's meeting and is also conveyed today. We have come to the conclusion in the meeting to walk out of the coalition in case the same instance is repeated. Still, the final decision would be made by the party chairman in the meeting," Gurung told ANI over the phone on Sunday.
