Denbighshire Council makes pledge to sink £1.5m extra into potholes.
A council motion to increase spending by £1.5m to fix potholed roads eventually went through after a political argument lasting almost an hour.
Conservative councillor Brian Jones, Denbighshire council’s lead member for waste, transport and the environment, originally put forward the motion at the authority’s AGM on Tuesday.
That was despite his party being the dominant force on the council and being involved in budget negotiations just a few months ago, claimed Plaid Cymru.
The motion called for an increase of £1.5m, up to £4m a year, for capital spending on highways from 2022-23 financial year. ....

Revolt by councillors fails to halt 3.8per cent Denbighshire Council Tax rise


Plaid members of Denbighshire council accused its cabinet of a “lack of transparency” in a last ditch attempt to stop a council tax rise of 3.8 per cent.
Cllr Mabon ap Gwynfor (Llandrillo ward) told Denbighshire council’s full meeting on Tuesday he used to get “reams of papers” setting out details of business plans and budgets for each department.
He said they’d received none of that information this time, calling it a “cabinet budget” rather than a council one.
Cllr ap Gwynfor said: “This is no way to draw up a budget. There’s a point of principle here that members of the council and indeed the wider community should have an opportunity to scrutinise and have input before being presented. ....
