Welcome to early start. Im christine romans. Im john berman. It is friday april 10th. We have breaking news. A deadly string of tornadoes tearing across the midwest. Some dramatic pictures. Look at that truck just getting blown over right there. The Weather Service reports at least 14 reported tornadoes across three states. Officials say the path of destruction across illinois alone was more than 25 miles long. There was a huge twister in Northern Illinois near the city of rochelle. Officials say the severe storm killed one person in nearby fairdale. This is another view of the storms in Northern Illinois. Residents of the neighborhood ran to their basements for shelter. We were here. It was hailing. We all thought it was going to miss us. We started getting calls from people in chain of the tornadoes headed our way. We quickly went down to the basement and could feel the tornado right over our house. Came up to this. I feel like its a bad dream. Something i would watch on the news som
Ripped through the region yesterday killing at least one person. Tornadoes were reported in iowa and missouri. But hardest hit was illinois where Storm Chasers captured some amazing video. Look. Go, go, go in illinois 80 miles northwest of chicago, a 67yearold woman was found dead in the rubble of her home. Every single home there was damaged and another 17 buildings destroyed. In kirkland illinois fire officials said responders searched for trapped residents. Were having a hard time sasz the assessing the damage because the trees were all over the roads and in rochelle the back wall of the building blew down and fell right on top of the two doors. Had to be lifted up to get out. We couldnt get out. Our car is over there demolished. Its in bad shape, huh . Its wiped out.
