The Village of Oakcreek Association is scheduled to hold a second appeals hearing Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 9 a.m. for an application for a Hilton Garden Inn on a vacant parcel along State Route 179 in the Village of Oak Creek. At the hearing, the HOA’s board of directors could approve or deny the hotel’s first proposed design. For a volunteer board that spends most of its time amicably discussing and approving funds for golf course equipment, the issue of how stringently to apply the HOA’s architectural rules to the proposed hotel has turned into a messy affair, with a group of HOA members in the Pine Creek II subdivision threatening litigation in December. ....
Sedona Red Rock News As the Village of Oakcreek Association reviews a controversial hotel proposal for an undeveloped tract on State Route 179 in the Village of Oak Creek, members of the homeowners association’s architectural committee have accused VOCA’s board of directors of inappropriately interfering in the review process and violating open meeting rules. The HOA is reviewing the hotel plans because the parcel is in the Pine Creek II subdivision of VOCA, and project owners Jack and Chandrika Patel signed on to the subdivision’s architectural restrictions at the time of purchase. On Dec. 3, VOCA’s Architectural Review & Restrictions Committee held a hearing for the Patels’ proposed Hilton Garden Inn for the fourth time since August. ....
