It wasn t just because of a second reunion with head coach Kyle Shanahan. The two previously worked together in Cleveland and Atlanta. It wasn t just the money or the area, either. Mack is a Southern California native and still spends his offseason there. He played college football for the California Golden Bears. The idea of returning to his home state was enticing. The six-time Pro Bowler joined KNBR on Thursday and discussed what went into his decision to sign with the Bay Area team. Much of it had to do with what Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have built in Santa Clara. ....
49ers were looking to trade up for weeks, No. 2 spot wasn t an option By David Bonilla Mar 26, 2021 ESPN s Adam Schefter was the first to break the blockbuster trade news between the San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins. The Niners surrendered their first-rounders in each of the next three drafts, plus a third-rounder next year, to move up from No. 12 overall to No. 3. This wasn t a deal that came out of nowhere. Schefter also reports that the 49ers have been attempting to trade into the top five for several weeks. General manager John Lynch and his staff didn t just speak with Miami. They also had discussions with the Atlanta Falcons at No. 4, and the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 5. ....
