NFR informs on cancellation and regulation of trains for undertaking infrastructural works till May 24

DIMAPUR The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to construct a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Jagiroad railway station under Lumding division to ease the road commuters. For undertaking the infrastructural works of the ROB, a traffic block (train control/cancellation/ regulation) will be necessary over NFR for about 18 days, an update from NFR informed. Accordingly, few trains have been proposed to be partially cancelled, short terminated/short originated, rescheduled and regulated from its present set course of journey for the month of May. The following trains will be short terminated/originated from Digaru railway station instead of Lumding station: Train no. 15769 (Alipurduar-Lumding) Intercity Express and train no. 15770 (Lumding-Alipurduar) Intercity Express will be short terminated/originated from Digaru and will remain partially cancelled between Digaru-Lumding from May 9 till the 24th. 'High fares' may hit re-run of passenger train service | Guwahati News

GUWAHATI: The decision of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to resume passenger train service on a regular basis for the first time since last year’s lockdown may ease inter and intra-state passenger movement but will certainly pinch the pockets of travellers because of a near three-fold hike in passenger fare.
To start plying the five pairs of passenger trains again, the NFR has published special restoration notices recently. However, the train status showing ‘unreserved mail/express ticketing’ has surprised local passengers, who were expecting some relief from the ‘exorbitant fare’ that they have been paying for months in private commercial passenger vehicles for their journey in the absence of passenger trains. After the lockdown was withdrawn last year, only one pair of passenger trains between New Bongaigaon-Guwahati was operating on a pilot basis in the NFR zone. ....
