Nancy was born in Bay City, Michigan to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Knight. She died at home in Leesburg, Florida under the hospice care of her husband, Jim.
Nancy graduated from Alpena High School in 1954. In August 1955, she married her sweetheart of four years in their hometown of Lincoln, Michigan. In May 1956, Nancy and Jim were the first married couple to receive their Associate Degrees from Alpena Community College. At age 20, she began her 35-year elementary school teaching career near Ann Arbor, using her provisional Michigan teaching certificate from ACC. After teaching three years, she entered Eastern Michigan University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1960, and later her Masters Degree. She then taught for 11 years at Dearborn Heights and finished her distinguished teaching career with 24 years in Alpena Public elementary schools until 1992. ....
