There will be differentiation in a lot of sectors, especially in banking. The actual NPAs will be reported and so the real picture would come out in terms of how the collection efficiencies are progressing, how the overdue is playing out, what percentage of restructuring as guided by management is being adhered to. Liquidity events are also very important. We keep blaming liquidity for the rally but liquidity essentially chases growth and the next stimulus the focus on infra to me would be very critical especially for cyclicals and commodities. I genuinely think we are in a commodity cycle and probably just the first leg has gone through. The market has virtually doubled from last March to this March from 7,500 to 14,800 almost 15,000 and so some amount of caution is warranted. There is euphoria in a lot of pockets ....
Bharti Airtel was a consensus buy a few months back. But the expected tariff hike has not transpired. That to me was a big trigger on which it initially crossed Rs 600 levels. But operationally, it continues to do well. It is gaining market share in 4G, adding probably twice the number of 4G clients. Their home business continues to do well. The African business has stabilised and I personally feel that a $2 ARPU is not sustainable for telecom in the long run. Also there was this expectation of telecom in India being a two-player industry but that did not materialise. Vodafone is still holding ground. ....
NEW DELHI: Short covering at Nifty Bank ahead of F&O expiry sent domestic stock indices soaring in an extended session on Wednesday after a technical glitch on National Stock Exchange (NSE) halted trading on that bourse for a few hours. Analysts said they won t be surprised if they see more short covering on Thursday. Analysts said the Put-Call ratio hinted at oversold conditions. After falling almost 12-15 per cent in February expiry, Nifty Bank picked up momentum and negated the formation of lower highs and lows on the technical chart. This happened after finance ministry allowed private banks to conduct government-related banking transactions. The announcement triggered huge short covering in bank stocks, analysts said. ....
