Gun tragedies, because i think so many of us have just become frustrated and accustomed to seeing nothing happen. a lot of thoughts, prayers, a lot of mourning, a lot of outrage, a lot of this, a lot of that. finger-pointing, but it leading up to nothing. so it would be a refreshing surprise. it would be a wonderful surprise. it would be a great celebration i think for any of us if we actually saw this tragedy turn into action, turn into specific results. what do i expect? what i hope is that it s not a carefully curated group of people that agree with this administration or that agree with, you know, the current gun laws. but also you know that they hear from folks like ema gonzalez from the parkland tragedy, they hear from the actual students who survived this and who have lent their voices and have become the activists behind this movement. let me say something. we have to stop criticizing and ....

Right now, existing law says that anyone who is engaged in the business of selling firearms has to conduct a background check. well, the business of selling firearms has changed over the last 20 years. you now have individuals going to gun shows selling firearms on the internet who might not have a bricks and mortar store but are essentially in the business of selling firearms just at trade shows and online. what i have asked the president to do along with many of my colleagues is to simply clarify for high volume sellers at places like gun shows, when do you actually have to get a background check for your customers and when you don t and when do you not. that is simply a clarification of existing law. i think if he does take that route of providing clarification, he will be on firm legal ground. senator, for you and certainly for the newtown families and others who have been struck by gun tragedies in the last few years, how frustrating is it that joe biden, barack obama have not b ....
