Alabama beach city considers ban on moped rentals

Back in August, Kayla Jordan saw a pick-up truck and a moped collide on Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores. She took to Facebook to express concerns about it.
Jordan said on Monday that while “scooters are great,” they are “extremely dangerous” when inexperienced users take to the congested beach roads where tourists flock during spring and summer months.
The Gulf Shores Police Department feels the same way, and wants the cycles banned similar with what has occurred in beach cities in next-door Florida. But exactly what could be banned is unclear, as the owner and operators of the only moped rental company in Gulf Shores say their vehicles were not exactly defined in a proposed city ordinance. Also, they argue the city is overreacting to a few injuries among thousands of rentals. ....
