Nine people were injured on Wednesday at a drama set in Karachi’s DHA after a guard opened fire after a disagreement over where the staff should eat. The guard was identified as Gul Bhai, and a brief argument with the producer preceded the event, according to the Karachi police media cell. Actor Yasir Hussain has used the incident to raise some valid points about the treatment of staff on sets. “The guard didn’t shoot the actors or the producers at the shoot. But those poor workers that are working on set for Rs1,000 per day,” he said. “They’re not the ones sitting in the AC, and eat outside in the parking lot,” he explained. ....

According to Dawn, the guard opened fire during the shooting at a residence in Karachi s Defence Housing Authority neighbourhood in which nine people aged between 22 and 40 sustained injuries, as per police information. The security guard stationed at the bungalow where the shooting was taking place, identified as Gul Bhai, opened fire after an argument with the producer of the drama, according to a statement issued by the Karachi Police media cell. ....
“Nine people sustained injuries during the incident,” said police.

The wounded have been identified as Muhammad Yousuf, Muhammad Akber, Muhammad Zahid, Muhammad Shehzad, Awais, Farhan, and Shahzad. Head of the JPMC Emergency department, Dr Seemin Jamali shared details of the condition of the injured with ARY News.
