Rain in Gujarat: The flood situation in the industrial twin towns of Bharuch and Ankleshwar as well as parts of central Gujarat remained grim with a large number of residential societies in kneedeep waters and vast swathes of farmland inundated. State government spokesman Rushikesh Patel said around 12,500 people were shifted to safer locations in eight districts while 617 people stranded at various places were rescued. With heavy rain lashing Gujarat since Sunday, 11,900 people living in low-lying areas in Vadodara, Bharuch, Narmada, Dahod, Panchmahal, Anand and Gandhinagar districts have been shifted to shelter homes while 270 stranded citizens were rescued.
