Bel Group invests in Big Idea Ventures on development of alternative proteins Big Idea Ventures, which is involved in early stage investment in the food technology sector, with accelerators in New York and Singapore, is strengthening its presence in Europe. Its New Protein Fund, dedicated to seed and early stage investments in plant-based and cell-based food, ingredient and technology companies, targeted raising $50m since its launch in 2019. The company has announced it is receiving structuring support from key players in the European market, including the Bel Group and the Buhler Group, with a view to opening an accelerator in Paris in 2021.

Yachting World 0shares Kevin Escoffier’s Vendée Globe rescue from a liferaft adrift in the Roaring Forties was the result of incredible seamanship. Helen Fretter spoke to him, and the team that co-ordinated the search “I AM SINKING. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. MAYDAY” At 1345 (UTC) on Monday 30 November, on a grey and lumpy South Atlantic some 840 miles south-west of Cape Town, Kevin Escoffier was 3rd in the single-handed Vendée Globe when his boat, the IMOCA 60 PRB, suddenly and catastrophically broke up. Escoffier had time only to send a three line Whatsapp message to his shore team before all communication with the boat was lost. It would be 11 hours before anyone on land heard from him again. This is the story of his stunning Vendée rescue.

Eight Boats Finish Vendee Globe Round the World Race in 24 hours, Ten in 35 31st January 2021 Maxime Sorel brings V and B Mayenne home in tenth place in the Vendee Globe Day 84 - Bringing the ninth edition of the Vendée Globe to an incredible crescendo eight competitors arrived back in Les Sables d’Olonne within 23 hours and 44 minutes. With a record entry of 33 boats and an atypical sequence of weather systems which meant the top 10 or 12 boats regrouped and re-started on three main occasions, the race went down to the wire with five boats pitching for the podium places at 36 hours from the finish.
