and she is furious right now because that i m on camera, but my mother was amongst a group of black student protesters fighting for equality in the 60s at delta state university. and that was a dangerous time. but those types of incidents that were covered by local reporters and some of the shame that came from the national embarrassment of treating people inhumanely this part of the pressure that helped to create that type of change. but what would become of my mother knows that they weren t telling their story. [applause] and now, it s no different. but thankfully, my mother story was told. she got it completed degree of delta state, continued on the florida, and then got another degree. and then for the last 45 years, has worked at an historically black college as an educator and administrator.
