21 UK organisations have been awarded a share of over £7 million of funding to put the UK at the forefront of the latest advances in space innovation SWINDON, UK (UK Space Agency PR) The cash injection is going to high-risk, high-reward projects that support companies and universities with radical ideas for how we tackle climate change through Earth Observation or address satellite communications challenges, from providing greater connectivity to remote places to increasing the efficiency of our homes. Satellite platform looks to monitor trees across different landscapes XCAM,a designer and manufacturer of specialised digital imaging systems, has joined a consortium of leading UK industry and academic partners, led by The Open University, to monitor trees across urban and rural landscapes. The consortium will undertake a scoping study which will push the limits of leading CMOS TDI sensors and optimise system configuration to develop a new satellite platform for the classification, characterisation and monitoring of trees across different landscapes. The results from this study will inform and support a bid for full funding of the project.
