GRETNA, Va. â Gretna Drug Company, Inc. is now administering the Pfizer vaccine to children aged 12-17. Storeowner and registered pharmacist, H. Chapman Brown III, is optimistic about Gretnaâs vaccine clinic as another step toward vaccinating as many people as possible to help staunch the spread of COVID-19. âThe Pfizer vaccine is currently approved for people 12 and older,â Brown said. Parents may schedule appointments for their children to receive the Pfizer vaccine, as well as getting vaccinated themselves. Right now, the Moderna vaccine is only being administered to adults. The vaccine clinic at Gretna Drug has been up and running since Jan. 11, 2021. However, this week marks the first vaccine clinic for children as young as 12 years old to receive their COVID-19 vaccine at Gretna Drug. ....

Gretna Drug has vaccinated about 3,000 people since it started offering doses in January, according to owner and pharmacist Chapman Brown. The pharmacy has gone from administering thirty vaccines a day to organizing clinics where up to 400 people are vaccinated at one time. “There’s enough need to go around for everyone, so we’re just glad to do whatever we can,” Brown said. “I’m very pleased. I think we’re fortunate we can be here to take care of the folks and do this.” ....
A local drug store is doing their part in helping the community get vaccinated for COVID-19. Gretna Drug, located on Vaden Drive, has been offering vaccinations since Jan. 11 and has since vaccinated more than 1,000 people. âWeâre all on board with trying to get the vaccines out to people as soon as possible,â Chapman âChappieâ Brown, Gretna Drug owner and pharmacist in charge, said. The pharmacy receives an undetermined amount of vaccine doses from the Virginia Department of Health weekly. They have just recently started giving people second doses. âThis is a two-shot sequence.so that kind of doubles your workload,â Brown said. âWeâre hoping we can get enough vaccines in so we can accommodate those due for their second dose.â ....
