to kind of challenge the ways thathat in much of our public conversation today there is a kind of dangerous i think distinction being made between what s being treated as the good old civil rights movement and the sort of movements for racial justice and black lives matter today. these are very dangerous distinctions and i think really looking at the history of rosa parks and particularly look at the history of rosa parks through criminal justice, really challenges these distinctions that some commentators are making today. and so i think a real look at rosa parks remind us from scottsboro to emmett till and jeremiah reed s distorted campaigns for justice for black women who were raped to the kind of criminalization of organizing that we see with highlander folk school and the bus buck offs to all of the defense committees she served on to all the anti-police brutality work she did sitting on the people s tribunal after the 1967 detroit uprising and on and on. i think s ....

foreign policy. just last tuesday the president led the american people to believe that he is withdrawing our marines immediately. in fact, he is not. we re now told that redeployment might take many months. even though it could be done in just a matter of hours. in the meantime, the president has ordered naval bombardment of beirut and those 16-inch shells are tearing into villages, killing women and children, while our marines are kept in place to become even more the targets for fanatical retribution. there s little military justification for what the president is doing and no moral justification whatsoever. because of our steadily deteriorating relationship with the soviets and because of our ill-conceived and morally outrageous position in lebanon, we need new leadership both at home and in the world. together we can make a difference and together we can make a more sane, sensible, and secure future for ourselves and for our children. thank you, senator glenn. ou ....
