Chick-fil-A, CarMax among projects expected in new year Victorville Daily Press The construction of a Chick-fil-A restaurant is one of several new business developments planned for the new year in Victorville. City spokeswoman Sue Jones shared with the Daily Press a list of major business and infrastructure projects expected to begin in 2021. One project that has received much attention is the Chick-fil-A restaurant coming to Mariposa Road near Interstate 15. Earlier this year, the city Planning Commission issued permits to Chick-fil-A to demolish the building formerly occupied by a Marie Callender’s restaurant. Once the building is removed and the property cleared, the company will construct a 5,088-square-foot restaurant that will include patio seating and a double drive-thru. ....
Victorville City Council approves High Desert s first CarMax dealership Vote of 4-1 paves way for used car company despite some opposition Victorville Daily Press The Victorville City Council on Tuesday moved forward with construction of the High Desert s first CarMax, nearly a month after the project drew opposition from local auto dealers who argued approval would constitute spot zoning. With two new members, the Council voted 4-1 to certify the project’s environmental impact report, or EIR, with a program in place to mitigate potential impacts and a site plan. Councilwoman Blanca Gomez cast the dissenting vote. Approval also included an amendment to a land-use plan that would conditionally allow used car sales in parcels, such as the CarMax site, that are zoned “Civic Commercial.” ....
