Dating back to the early days of American Revolution, the founders of Reading (Wakefield was formerly the South Parish of Reading) were citizen-soldiers who fought from the Battle of Lexington & Concord to Sarasota to win our freedom from tyranny. Patriots from Wakefield again answered the call during the Civil War to end slavery and fought in two World Wars, the Korean War, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq to secure our freedoms.
