Democrat Gregg Smith ended his short-lived campaign to unseat Rep. Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District on Monday, claiming that his candidacy might prevent a “unified effort” to defeat Boebert in the 2022 congressional elections. 
At the time Smith filed his statement of organization with the Federal Elections Commission on Jan. 30, he was the sole candidate in the Democratic primary for the district.
Since then, several “high quality candidates” with ties to Colorado’s political establishment have entered the race, he wrote in a statement that he posted on his Twitter account.  ....
