reschedules more shows The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall continues to rearrange scheduled performances as its closure for the coronavirus pandemic continues. The hall has announced that a concert featuring six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald scheduled for Feb. 13 will be rescheduled for a future date. Patrons have been asked to hold onto their tickets until the date is determined. “Proud Tina: The Ultimate Tribute to Tina Turner” scheduled for March 9 will now be presented in Sarasota on Jan. 13, 2022. Rick Thomas: Mansion of Dreams has been rescheduled from April 8 to April 11, 2022. And legendary singer Johnny Mathis, who was scheduled to perform “65 Years of Romance” on April 14, will return to Sarasota on April 12, 2022. ....
ACS, ASALH, and SBAC Announce the Winners of the 2021 Black Muse Exhibition The winning works will be presented virtually on all three organization’s websites through March 5.by BWW News Desk Art Center Sarasota , The Association for the Study of African American Life and History, and the Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative recently announced the winners of the 2021 Black Muse exhibition. The three groups collaborated to present this year s exhibit, which solicited work from artists of African descent throughout the state of Florida. The exhibit was juried by Elizabeth Goodwill, MFA, education director for Art Center Sarasota; and artist and SBAC board member Alyssia Lazin.
