Despite the Blades and the Pats battling it out on the ice, Saskatoon and Regina have come together to prepare a joint bid to host the 2025 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. Saskatchewan's two largest cities co-hosted the international hockey tournament in 2010.

The Oshawa Generals have announced that the club and Head Coach Greg Walters have parted ways.
Walters was named head coach of the Generals in June 2018 following an eight-season run with the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Georgetown Raiders.
The former Ontario Junior Hockey League and Canadian Junior Hockey League coach of the year brought his winning ways to the OHL, leading the Generals to back-to-back third place finishes in the eastern conference.
The former Ottawa 67’s forward was a fourth round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft and, following a lengthy pro career that included stops in the AHL and in other various North American leagues, was named an assistant coach with the Sarnia Sting before joining the Raiders eight years later.

After the Abbotsford Heat dropped two games in a row to the Oklahoma City Barons last weekend, the Providence Bruins were in town for a two game set. The Bruins are one of the older clubs in the AHL and recently participated in the AHL’s version of the Winter Classic against the Connecticut Wale in sub-zero temperatures in Connecticut at Rentschler Field. The Bruins also have Zach Hamill, a local boy that used to play in the WHL for the Everett Silvertips. He got his first game in the NHL last year and has played three games in the show for Boston this year, accumulating two NHL points. He has also played some of his best hockey with the Providence Bruins these last two years and could make a permanent jump into the NHL as early as next season. Boston Bruins General manager Peter Chiarelli was in the press box for this contest to check on his prospects while the Boston Bruins were staying in Vancouver for four days awaiting their Saturday night contest with the Canucks.
