BOSSIER CITY, La. A Sea of Blue is expected to participate Thursday and Friday in the visitation and celebration of life services for a Webster Parish law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty Friday night. Visitation for the family of 53-year-old Sgt. William Billy Earl Collins Jr. is for 5 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Bossier. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, also at the church. Law enforcement services on both sides of the river and from beyond are expected to take part in both. Since the services will take place in Bossier Parish, the sheriff s office is working with the Webster Parish Sheriff s Office and other agencies to coordinate their participation to honor Collins. ....
DOYLINE, La. â Saturday, residents of Doyline shared what they remember of Friday nightâs shooting incident that took the life of Doyline officer and Webster Parish Deputy William Earl Collins Jr. Me and my wife are in the garage and we heard three or four gunshots pop off, said a resident who lived close by. The resident said he had just spoke to Collins before the shooting. Collins responded to the home around 5:45 p.m., according to the Louisiana State Police. The resident recalled what he heard after a couple of gun shots. It was, âYou don t have to do this. Come on out brother, drop the gun. You don t have to do this dude.â But I didn t know he was shot because I could still hear him hollering, said the resident. ....
