Bruns 'Corso' development gets green light, but did the developer game the system? – The Echo

Well, it’s all over bar the shouting. The $6.3 million mixed use ‘Corso’ development in Bayside Brunswick Heads featuring a 38-room boarding house, a small retail hub, and shop-top apartments, has been given the green light by Byron Council. With legal action already underway, a majority of councillors voted to accept a revised development application put forward by developers Oniva and The Kollective rather than proceed to trial.   The ‘Corso’ development in Bayside, Brunswick Heads. Council to manage native bushland near Mullum  – Echonetdaily

Paul Bibby A precious pocket of old growth forest in Mullumbimby is a step closer to being in public hands after Byron Shire councillors voted to take responsibility for the site last week. Tallowood Ridge, located next to the Tallowood housing estate off Left Bank Road, features 100-year-old trees that are home to numerous species including koalas. Court orders The site is protected by Land and Environment Court orders, but was set to become the responsibility of a small group of private landowners. This raised concerns that more of the old growth trees would be lost and that the site would suffer from a lack of regular maintenance.
