Ex-police officer from Gourock traumatised by witnessing woman taking own life


AN inspirational ex-police officer has bravely told how he was left traumatised by witnessing a woman taking her own life.
Colin Devlin was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder following the tragedy he encountered at the end of a shift on the beat.
Now he is speaking out about his experience, and the impact it had on him, in a bid to help other people.
Colin served as a police officer for 10 years and witnessed a series of distressing sights, including one where a woman tragically jumped from a bridge despite his bid to save her.
The dad-of-two was based down in England at the time but he returned home to Inverclyde at the end of last year. ....

Youngster takes on tartan trek to raise money for counselling charity


Bradley Jenkins is taking part in the Virtual Kiltwalk later this month in aid of Mind Mosaic.
His mum Karyn works for the charity and the thoughtful seven-year-old, a Greenock Wanderers youth member, wanted to do his bit to help the good cause.
Karyn who lives in Gourock s Ballochyle Place with Bradley and daughter Sophia, four, said: Bradley is always thinking of ways to help others.
He was thrilled to do this challenge.
Bradley, who is a pupil at St Ninian s Primary School, has joint hypermobility syndrome, which means his joints are very flexible and his parents encourage him to do sports to build up the muscle. ....
