Doerr is MPHS Senior of the Month The Courier Jaycie Doerr, daughter of Marsha and Scott Doerr of Elkhart, has been named January-Senior-of-the-month at Mount Pulaski High School. She was selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Throughout her time at MPHS, Doerr has been actively involved in various clubs and organizations. She has been in Band, Scholastic Bowl, Spanish Club, Drama Club as a Student Director, and a member of the Softball team for four years. She has been a member of FFA as the reporter for three years, Student Council for two years, and National Honor Society for one year. She has also been named Spanish 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus student of the year. She also earned her Greenhand Degree in Ag. ....
Huckabay’s Lavergne earns 2020 Lone Star FFA Degree By Patty Hullett For the Empire-Tribune Jamie Lavergne, a senior at Huckabay High School, earned the prestigious Lone Star FFA Degree during the 5th General Session of the Texas FFA Convention, which took place virtually. Lavergne joins six other former award winners from her alma mater. Lavergne is the first female in Huckabay FFA Chapter history to earn this prestigious award, and the first female recipient in 44 years. “I first became interested in the FFA program when I was much younger and when I enjoyed traveling with my mother, Theresia Lavergne, (who used to run some of the state events in Louisiana) to livestock shows, judging contests, and other FFA events, she said. Maegan Richards KENT Kent State University President Todd Diacon recently presented the 2020 President’s Award of Distinction to Maegan Richards of the Salem and East Liverpool Campuses. The award recognizes a staff member who demonstrates outstanding achievements, service, leadership and dedication to Kent State in advancing the university’s strategic priorities and core values. Richards is the Academic Learning Commons coordinator for the Salem and East Liverpool campuses. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2009 and a Master of Library and Information Science in 2011, each from Kent State, and has been a full-time employee on the Salem Campus since September 2011. ....
