Greenfylde School, Ilminster, takes part in Safer Internet Day


PUPILS have relied heavily on the use of the internet lately - particularly with the introduction of home schooling - and so one school decided to take part in Safer Internet Day.
The national day, held on Tuesday, February 9, is organised by Insafe in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology.
This years theme was ‘An internet we trust: exploring reliability in the online world’.
Greenfylde C of E First School, both at home and in the classroom, celebrated the day together and learnt about how to use the internet safely.
The day began with a video assembly, and then children took part in sessions and explored the devices we use to go onto the internet and how we can access safe, reliable information online. ....

Last chance for public to have their say on Crewkerne and Ilminster schools restructure


A CONSULTATION on plans to transform the education system in Ilminster and Crewkerne ends next week.
And so this week is the last chance for the public to have their say on the proposals, which will see a new structure of primary schools and secondary schools, instead of first schools, middle schools and upper schools.
But parents and headteachers are not happy about the plans – saying they will have a “detrimental impact” on all the schools in the system.
The current plans were drawn up after years of debates between schools, academy trusts and Somerset County Council (SCC).
The only thing they seem to agree on is that the three tier system is not sustainable. ....
