Today it’s a sprawling six-block area closed to traffic and dedicated to presenting a large number of artists and a major showcase for musical acts; this year there are more than 30 acts. Sand City is now firmly on the map as an arts destination, with its plethora of colorful murals on the buildings that house many of the construction trades businesses and other industrial-style warehouses.
