Well, once again Mother Nature threw a wrench into things as the annual Greeley Fishing Derby kicked off on Saturday under drizzly skies and with lower than normal temperatures. Despite the un-summer like weather, 289 anglers of all ages and skill levels gathered at Sanborn Park to cast their lines into the pond for a chance to reel in a whopper.
Fishing derbies are a great way to try your hand at fishing while meeting others and having a fun time. This year the cities of Greeley and Loveland are hosting fishing derbies for all ages to attend and to sweeten the deal, the cities have stocked the lake and pond prior to the derbies with different types and sizes of fish.
