Jackson Day,” the kickoff event for a months-long celebration commemorating the 150th anniversary of Jackson Ward, the nation’s first historically registered Black urban neighborhood and the “Birthplace of Black Entrepreneurship.” The April 17th celebration will consist of a series of socially-distanced tours through art activations and projections on walls across the ward’s historical footprint, revealing the neighborhood’s many “hidden histories.” Attendees may opt for self-guided tours on foot or by personal vehicle or expert-guided tours via trolley or tuk tuks beginning on the 3rd Street side of the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
