Grantham teachers transform into Masked Readers for World Book Day
Staff at two village primary schools have gone undercover to mark World Book Day this year.
Teachers at St Sebastian’s Primary School, in Great Gonerby, and Marston Thorold Primary School have donned a range of mysterious disguises to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday.
As part of the celebrations, the schools are running a ‘Masked Reader’ competition for their pupils after being inspired by the British reality singing competition television series, ‘The Masked Singer’.

Staff have been very creative with some their disguises, including donning retro style wigs and covering their faces with a range of animal face masks, Batman and even the Hulk. ....

Plans to expand HGV parking area by 40 spaces off the A1 near Grantham are given go-ahead
Plans to expand a HGV parking area off the A1 have been given the go-ahead by councillors.
Moto Hospitality Ltd applied for planning permission to expand its parking site in Great Gonerby to include an additional 40 spaces for HGVs.
The Moto Service Area, which is located at the junction off the A1 and the B1174, currently has 15 spaces for HGVs as well as 187 parking spaces for cars and four for coaches.

A grandad is running 10k a day for 60 days straight to raise money for a charity that is close to his heart.
Paul Durham, of Lime Grove, Grantham, is hoping to raise at least £200 for Diabetes UK after his grandson, William Hodges, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was nine years old.
The father-of-two is already two thirds of the way through his 400-mile challenge after setting off on his first 10k run on New Year’s Day and hopes to finish on March 1. ....

They did so in memory of Captain Tom and his amazing achievements.

Sailor from Grantham retires from the navy after serving for more than 52 years

A man who left Grantham as a teenager to join the navy is retiring after an incredible 52 and a half years in the service.
Warrant Officer 2 Allan Mason, 68, affectionately known as ‘Perry’, has notched-up the staggering record in regular service, 40 of those years on board or in support of the submarine service. It is believed to be the longest service in modern naval history.
On February 12 the marine engineer, who was born in Caythorpe, will finally hang up his overalls for good.
