Weymouth teens spread kindness with painted rocks Wicked Local Hailey O’Donnell, 14, said she began painting encouraging messages and colorful designs on rocks during the height of the coronavirus pandemic because I had free time. “They were fun to give to other people and spread kindness,” she added. “I did not realize how happy people would be when I gave them painted rocks.“ O’Donnell said she and her classmates in an English class at Adams Middle School were introduced to painting rocks by their teacher Lanette Griffin-Caldeira, founder of “Weymouth Rocks,” a community kindness project that began in 2019. “Sometimes I wrote messages like spread kindness, hope or kindness is easily carried, ” O Donnell said. ....
Brielle does most of the artwork, she said. Griffin-Caldeira said she enjoys painting colorful designs on rocks that “will get kids interested. “Sometimes I will do a whole theme,” she added. Griffin-Caldeira said she had inscribed quotes on rocks by the late children s author, Dr. Seuss. “I had a rock with a quote on it that said, “a person is a person no matter how small,” she said. Griffin-Caldeira said her daughter has put famous quotes by Seuss on various rocks in various parks. She has written quotes from Cat In The Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2, she said. “She also did a Toy Story theme.” ....
