Environmental/Wild Horse Advocates File Lawsuit Over Government Plan to Eradicate One-Third of Wyoming s Wild Horse Population

Today, a coalition of wild horse advocates, environmentalists, and academics filed suit in the US District Court for the District of Wyoming against the US Department of the Interior over a federal plan that would result in the largest-ever eradication of federally protected wild horses and elimination of 43% of designated wild horse habitat in the Red Desert area of Wyoming.

Protest Filed Against Federal Plan to Eliminate One-Third of Wyoming s Wild Horse Population

Rock Springs, WY The Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) and American Wild Horse Campaign (AWHC), along with prominent wildlife photographers Kimerlee Curyl and Carol Walker, submitted a formal protest yesterday opposing proposed amendments to two Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Resource Management Plans (RMPs) that would result in the largest-ever removal of wild horses from the range and elimination of their designated habitat.
