in richmond this evening. this man was allegedly operating an unlicensed group home. what else do we know? reporter: raj, police say he was a well-known and active member of the richmond community. they say he often attended city council meetings, community events abdomen was a frequent helper here at kennedy high school. police say he has something else up his sleeve. they say he s a child molester. recently he cexposed when one os victims came forward. so far we have seven boys ranging from 15 to 17 years old. you re looking at a man police say molested at least seventeen age boys under his care. he s a registered sex offender with a long criminal past was somehow running an unlicensed group homes, preying on kids and families in need. he did have a license to run the transitional home. but he s a trusted person within the community. people trusted them and they would drop their kids off in his guidance. police say he was also an unofficial but frequent volunteer
this is a place that families can come. we want businesses that fit. reporter: almost all the businesses here oppose what would be the first medical marijuana dispensary at fisherman s wharf. may lynn owns the shop next door. all the customer all the customer i think that s a crazy idea you know this is the first there s a lot of peoples with the families, kids. reporter: but ray says he is not here to get people high. he is in the healing business helping those dealing with cancer, aids, and other illnesses. he says there are no dispensaries on this side of the city. it would give them additional foot traffic. not another t-shirt or knicknack shop. they want a reason to come to fisherman s wharf. reporter: while ray has gotten thousands of signatures in support, many visitors think it s the wrong place. you might lose some tourism here. i don t want my children or grandchildren to be exposed to it. when they become adults that would be their choice. reporter:
critically and tonight a new report out shows the company had an unfavorable safety record and had hired unqualified drivers. cbs5 s andria borba is at the bus company s offices there in san francisco the andria? reporter: after the chp inspected the entire city sight seeing flight 20% of the city sight seeing buses were pulled off the road for service problems. now problems included emergency exits on two of the buses that did not work. two bucks had broken wheel fasteners near the axles. 1 bus had a leaky fuel tank and one bus had passenger seats not properly secured to the floorboards. the attorney for the union says he is not surprised at all by this report. lots of laws are in place to protect the public. unfortunately we have to depend upon these companies to self- regulate and to follow the law and to take their buses in and properly license them, properly inspect them, get the chp inspections done each year, have the drivers properly licensed and trained, follow t
