MOSES LAKE Melissa Klitzke of Moses Lake has been named vice president and relationship manager for the commercial banking team at Washington Trust Bank, according to an announcement from the bank.
Klitzke, who grew up in the Basin and has more than 24 years’ experience in banking, was most recently with Banner Bank, where she served as vice president and relationship manager to serve small- to mid-sized business owners and commercial clients, according to the announcement. ....
JOHN DAY — The Tuesday, Sept. 26 session of John Day city council was a busy one with discussions about council president Dave Holland’s performance as council president and an update on a complaint filed by Kathy Stoddard against the mayor for comments she’d made during fair being key highlights.
An update about a complaint filed with the city against Mayor Heather Rookstsool for comment she’d allegedly made during fair that she’d gotten rid of a problematic employee, presumably in reference to former city accountant Stephanie Allen, who no longer works for the city.
Council President Dave Holland said the city attorney had contacted him about the complaint and provided him with options as to how to proceed. The choices were to do nothing or launch a formal investigation, similar to the one the that just concluded dealing with allegations against former interim city manager Rick Allen.

GEORGE An Everest, Kansas, woman was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault – domestic violence, early Monday morning after she allegedly shot her boyfriend after he hit her in the face.
Margo Hudspeth, 42, was arrested after an incident near the Wild Horse Monument south of George, wrote Kyle Foreman, public information officer for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred about 11:45 p.m. Sunday on the eastbound side of Interstate 90. The unidentified man allegedly hit Hudspeth in the face, and she shot him in the elbow, Foreman wrote. The man was transported for the gunshot wound. ....
