National Rifle Association head Wayne LaPierre, on the virtual witness stand during the third day of the group s highly anticipated bankruptcy trial in Texas, was peppered with a harsh line of questioning, including one about a $60,000 invoice marked Russia.
In Wednesday s testimony, the NRA s longtime executive vice president conceded that he did not inform several senior NRA officials that he would file his bankruptcy petition before he did so, including a board member who would have been his successor, Law & Crime reported. LaPierre also testified that he did not inform board members about the establishment of a company Sea Girt, LLC, which he formed in Texas for the purpose of filing for bankruptcy. ....

During his first day on the witness stand in a closely watched bankruptcy trial, National Rifle Association chief
Wayne LaPierre conceded Wednesday that he made a “mistake” by not disclosing his excursion on a Hollywood producer’s yacht on conflict-of-interest forms. The gun-group honcho also acknowledged on Thursday that he was disciplined for receiving “excess benefits.”
“Yes, I was disciplined,” LaPierre told the charities bureau chief of the New York State Attorney General’s Office. “I paid it back.”
On the first day of his testimony, LaPierre faced questioning about his excursions on two yachts, the Illusions and the Grand Illusions; all-expense-paid hunting trips in Botswana and other exotic locales for him and his wife; a shopping spree at a Beverly Hills Zegna for Italian suits that ran close to $300,000. ....

There has been a perceptible decline of Western power and rise of China in the last two decades. The Western liberal democratic order is in a mess. Francis Fukuyama’s ‘end of history’ thesis seems like a cruel joke played on the Western world.
