BELLINGHAM, Wash.  A public ceremony will be held later this month to prepare a Lummi totem pole for a journey to sacred sites in the U.S. and the nation’s capitol.
The Lummi Nation House of Tears Carvers created the totem to promote the preservation and restoration of sacred lands, landscapes and waterways.
The ceremony will be held on Granary Avenue at Bellingham’s waterfront on Monday, May 24th beginning at 2 p.m.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the start of the journey has been changed to July 14th, arriving in Washington, D.C. on July 28th. ....

» City ready to launch next phase of Waypoint Park development

BELLINGHAM, Wash.  The City of Bellingham is ready to launch the next phase of Waypoint Park on the redeveloped waterfront.
This new development will extend about 750 feet south of the current park, which includes the repurposed Acid Ball from the former GP plant.
The additional park space will occupy the space between the Whatcom Waterway and the planned Granary Avenue condominium project.
It will include an extension of the waterfront trail.
