COLOMBO (News 1st); There is no decision to impose a country-wide lockdown, stressed Army Commander General Shavendra Silva on Wednesday (28).
“Some Grama Niladhari Divisions and Police Areas were placed in isolation without prior notice, so people did not have time to gather supplies,” he said.

NO public gatherings during the upcoming month: State Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st): A decision has been reached NOT to allow ANY public gathering during the upcoming month, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, the State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID Disease Control said on Friday (Apr. 23).
She noted that the decision was reached in response to an increase in the spread of COVID-19, adding the quarantine period of two weeks will also be re-enforced.
Thereby, the COVID-19 guidelines that were practiced earlier will be re-enforced for a one-month period to control the situation.
These guidelines include the number of guests for weddings limited to 50, funerals limited to 25, and to be conducted within 24-hours. ....
