Sydney racing moves back to Randwick on Saturday.
The track is currently rated a heavy eight with no more showers predicted, so it looks likely to stay around that mark. The rail is out three metres the entire circuit.
Below are my thoughts on the program.
Race 1: 1200 metres, two-year-old handicap
Verne was a touch unlucky in defeat on debut, not having clear running until too late. That was against In The Congo, who he meets again here. He then went on to score comfortably at his second start. Gun trainer Annabelle Neasham has suggested through the week that he may have been her slipper runner if things had have panned out earlier. With a few early scratchings, he comes into barrier six at this stage, which looks sure to provide him with a good run in transit. He should be right in the finish.

Australiaâs greatest racing dynasty has added another chapter after Edward Cummings landed his first Group 1 with Duais in the Queensland Oaks at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
While the young trainer carries a famous surname, he has always done it his way and Cummings made it clear Duais’ victory was a result of blood, sweat and tears rather than riding on the coat-tails of his family before him.
After delivering a perfect ride from a wide barrier, jockey Hugh Bowman will also get the chance to bring up his 100th Group 1 win in next Saturday’s JJ Atkins aboard Port Louis after winning the Oaks for the first time since Winx in 2015.

Australia has a new Group One star after Zaaki silenced his doubters with a Doomben Cup demolition job which had jockey James McDonald poking fun at his rivals.
The English import’s seven-length romp saw him power into $4 Cox Plate favouritism later this year, while other race fancies Sir Dragonet and Mugatoo misfired badly.
The jaw-dropping performance leaves McDonald with an interesting decision to make heading into the spring as the regular rider of seven-time Group One winner Verry Elleegant, who is considered Australia’s premier weight-for-age horse.
