Open Grazing Ban: Delta monarchs back Southern governors

DELTA State Traditional Rulers Council, has declared its support for Southern governors’ decision on ban of open grazing of cattle in the region and other resolutions from the Asaba meeting.
The traditional rulers in an 8-point communique at the end of their meeting, insisted that restructuring and ban on open grazing was the panacea to continued unity and peaceful co existence among Nigerians.
Reading the 8-point communiqué, Chairman of the Council, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor 11, flanked by 1st Vice Chairman, General Felix Mujakpuero, Orhue 1, retd, and 2nd Vice Chairman, Pere Kalanama V111, said the nation’s democracy was being threatened by insecurity. ....

The Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum and Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Saturday, pushed back on the anti-restructuring comments by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and other critics of the resolutions reached by the Southern Governors’ Forum during last Tuesday’s meeting.
Okowa spoke on behalf of 16 other governors from the Southern zone of the country who he hosted in Asaba, Delta State capital.
This is as Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, also, on Saturday, said the decisions reached by the Southern governors, including the demand for restructuring, were irrevocable.
Seventeen Southern governors, who jettisoned their party affiliations, had met to discuss urgent national issues and reached some resolutions, which are now referred to as the Asaba Declaration. ....

Umahi raises the alarm on plots to incite war in South East


• Exonerates IPOB/ESN from attacks
Chairman of South East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has raised the alarm on plots to incite war in the South East and urged the people not to fall for such plans.
The governor also exonerated the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its security outfit, Eastern Security Network (ESN) from complicity in the spate of attacks on public infrastructure in the South East, especially police formations.
He blamed the attacks on bandits, whom he accused of buck passing their crimes on ESN. 
 
Appearing on a national television breakfast show, Wednesday, Umahi said: “Of late, we have bandits that are now doing a lot of evil and saying they are ESN members. ....
