Seven years after their wards were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School Chibok in Borno state, no fewer than 20 parents of the affected students have died as a result of trauma while many others are now living with terminal ailments.
Director of Media and Communication of the Kibaku (Chibok) Area Development Association KADA, Dr Allen Manasseh disclosed this at a solemn event Wednesday in Abuja to mark the seventh year of the kidnap of the students. ....

I woke up to the good news that the 279 girls kidnapped last week from Government Girls Junior Secondary School (GGJSS), Jengebe, Zamfara State, had been released. I had my piece for this week all ready and had to discard it, but I have never been more grateful for a curve ball being thrown at me. When the news of their abduction broke, parallels were immediately drawn with that of the Chibok girls which happened seven years ago. Everyone wondered if in 2028, the Zamfara girls would still be in captivity. Of the 276 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram from Government Secondary School Chibok in 2014, 103 were released, 57 fled and four later escaped while 112 are still missing. ....

Borno: Chibok Girls escape from Boko Haram captivity

An unconfirmed number of abducted Government Secondary School Chibok girls have escaped from Boko Haram captivity in Borno.
April 14, 2014, kidnapped girls, regained their freedom following Thursday’s military aerial and ground operations in Sambisa forest.

The over a decade long insurgency has claimed 40, 000 lives with property worth N3.42 trillion in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states. 276 Chibok schoolgirls were abducted in 2014 and of this number, 107 have returned, 82 were released after negotiations with Boko Haram, while 122 continue to remain in captivity; until yesterday’s escape from the forest.
Confirming the escape yesterday in Maiduguri, Malam Madu Mutta, a parent disclosed that the girls escaped yesterday following attacks on some Boko Haram hideouts in the forest, west of Chibok town. Parent of Chibok missing girls confirms daughter amongst escapees from Boko Haram captivity

Anonymous parent of one of the Chibok Missing Girls weekend confirmed her daughter (Halima) who was among the hundreds of abducted School Girls by Insurgents on 14th April, 2014, escaped alongside may others.
This is even as a reliable Chibok Source told our Correspondent that “another parent named Ali Chibok whose daughter was among the escapee called him (the father) on phone but yet to see the presence of the escapee back to Chibok nor report to her Father’s Home in Chibok”.
